Have a great day in Costa Rica taking part of this amazing Puntarenas Tour, specially designed for the whole family. Leaving from the Puntarenas pier at 8:00 AM, you will enjoy the picturesque Pan-American Highway on the way to San Jose. After 90 minutes bus ride, we will get the town of La Garita de Alajuela where this special place is located.

Zoo Ave Wildlife Conservation Park is one of three wildlife projects owned and operated by the Nature Restoration Foundation (NRF).  It is an officially recognized Costa Rican wildlife rescue center and premier zoological facility. The park hosts over 60,000 visitors every year, the vast majority of which (95%) are Costa Rican Nationals. Over the past decade (since 1990), Zoo Ave has worked to preserve native flora and fauna through wildlife rehabilitation, captive breeding, release of native species and operation of the zoological garden. The Zoo itself is designed to educate the public about conservation and to display native Costa Rican species in a healthy and respectful manner.

VISITING ZOO AVE: The Zoological Park is open everyday from 9am to 5pm. Visitors will see a variety of native and exotic species of animals housed in spacious, natural settings. The Zoo offers the public a chance to view Costa Rican gems such as the Resplendent Quetzal and the prehistoric relic the American Crocodile. In addition, several exotic species are on exhibit which includes African wildlife such as the ostrich and patas monkeys. Visitors are encouraged to stroll through the beautifully landscaped park to view and learn about these wonderful animals.

Operational Notes

• Round trip transport between the ship and attractions.
• The meeting point is at the entrance of the pier for cruise ships arriving to puntarenas and gangway for cruise ships arriving into Puerto Caldera.
• Our guides will be at pier with a sign and the name of the pax on it.
• All buses have A/C
• Buses for 44 or 52 passengers have toilet.
• This tour has been designated an environmentally sensitive tour.
• Long pants or Jeans are highly recommended for this tour.
• Tour is not wheelchair accessible & is not for pax with any walking limitations.
• All tour guides are bi-lingual English – Spanish. For other languages please make the request in advance.
• During this tour, in some places there is no shade, pax should bring sunscream, a hat, sunglases, etc.
• During the rainy season, Sep- Nov, pax should expect some rain. Pax should bring a raincoat.
• Greenway Tours suggests pax to bring mosquito spray for beach and rain forest tours.
• Greenway Tours buses are equipped with First-Aid Kit in case of accidents.
• Pax should wear comfortable shoes.
• Pax should be advised to bring a backpack to store cameras, film, sunscream and any other belongings for easy travel.
