DESCRIPTION:

Sarchi is the home of Costa Rica's craftsmanship. This scenic town is located west of the Central Valley just 40 miles away from Puntarenas Port.

It is an area surrounded by coffee and sugar cane plantations. As guests pass through this town they will discover the Costa Rican farmers most important symbol, the brightly colored hand-painted oxcart. This tradition started over a century ago and you will have the opportunity to watch practiced craftsmen as they paint their oxcarts just like their ancestors did at the turn of the century.

Shopping time is scheduled here. A large variety of woodcrafts, leather goods, beautiful post cards and souvenirs of all kinds will be available. Just before going back to the pier, enjoy the town of Grecia. Here we will make a short stop for picture taking of its park and unique late 1800's all metal church.

Operational Notes

• Round trip transport between the ship and attractions.
• The meeting point is at the entrance of the pier for cruise ships arriving to puntarenas and gangway for cruise ships arriving into Puerto Caldera.
• Our guides will be at pier with a sign and the name of the pax on it.
• All buses have A/C
• Buses for 44 or 52 passengers have toilet.
• This tour has been designated an environmentally sensitive tour.
• Long pants or Jeans are highly recommended for this tour.
• Tour is not wheelchair accessible & is not for pax with any walking limitations.
• All tour guides are bi-lingual English – Spanish. For other languages please make the request in advance.
• During this tour, in some places there is no shade, pax should bring sunscream, a hat, sunglases, etc.
• During the rainy season, Sep- Nov, pax should expect some rain. Pax should bring a raincoat.
• Greenway Tours suggests pax to bring mosquito spray for beach and rain forest tours.
• Greenway Tours buses are equipped with First-Aid Kit in case of accidents.
• Pax should wear comfortable shoes.
• Pax should be advised to bring a backpack to store cameras, film, sunscream and any other belongings for easy travel.
