TOUR DESCRIPTION:

Enjoy the contrasts of urban and rural areas, as we drive to the Central Volcanic Mountain Range and continue up the mountains toward Vara Blanca. The good climate and fertile soils make this area very productive. Dairy farming, coffee, sugar cane, vegetables, all can be seen during this tour.

La Paz Waterfall Gardens is proud to have the largest Butterfly Observatory in the world. The enclosed structure allows butterflies to soar freely while guests walk amid the natural habitat. An on site laboratory is a breeding ground for the eleven fluttering species. In the Hummingbird garden, our feathered friends will delight and fascinate you with their antics as they play and fight with each other at amazing speeds.

Besides the butterflies, you will be able to enjoy many other exhibits such a hummingbird, Frogs, Jungle Cats, Snakes and Monkeys Gardens.  

As you wander the trails of La Paz Waterfall Gardens your senses will delight at the five waterfalls that line the trail. Enjoy life as it was a hundred years ago in our Casita de la Paz. This unique reproduction was built using only the tools available to the average farmer a century ago. 

Step back in time and taste some fresh milk (right from the cow), take a ride in an ox-driven cart, sample freshly made tortillas and see how the Ticos lived and worked on rural farms.

After exploring Waterfall Gardens , you will enjoy a delicious buffet style lunch at the terrace dinning room.

Operational Notes

• Round trip transport between the ship and attractions.
• The meeting point is at the entrance of the pier for cruise ships arriving to puntarenas and gangway for cruise ships arriving into Puerto Caldera.
• Our guides will be at pier with a sign and the name of the tour on it.
• All buses have A/C
• This tour is operated in small buses only.
• This tour has been designated an environmentally sensitive tour.
• All tour guides are bi-lingual English – Spanish. For other languages please make the request in advance.
• During this tour, in some places there is no shade, pax should bring sunscream, a hat, sunglases, etc.
• During the rainy season, Sep- Nov, pax should expect some rain. Pax should bring a raincoat.
• Greenway Tours suggests pax to bring mosquito spray for beach and rain forest tours.
• Greenway Tours buses are equipped with First-Aid Kit in case of accidents.
• Pax should wear comfortable shoes.
• Pax should be advised to bring a backpack to store cameras, film, sunscream and any other belongings for easy travel.
• This tour is designed for active people that enjoy exercise and the great outdoors.
• For people with limited walking mobility, we offer small electrical cars for explore the park.
