Discover with us the splendour of the natural tropic of Costa Rica. Experience the great biodiversity of La Tirimbina Biological Reserve, a well-known research and scientific center located in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui and at only 90 minutes from San Jose.
Tirimbina Biological Rserve is a travel and learning destination where education, research and striking beauty combine for exceptional encounters with tropical life. Biologist-educators conduct visitors and students through the story of the rainforest.
Several suspension bridges carry visitors through breathtaking river and forest canopy environments. An 860-foot bridge crosses the Sarapiqui River and Tirimbina Island, and a 370-foot Canopy Walkway allows access to where 90% of rainforest life thrives, home to many species of plants and animals.
The National Wildlife Refuge offer 8 kilometers on trail, to explore primary and secondary forest. Natural tropical pools invite to swim or wildlife-watching.
