Port Limon excursion

Known as Costa Rica 's Amazon because of its surrounding rain forest, the Tortuguero Canal region is rich with exotic flora and fauna. You'll enjoy a short scenic bus ride, passing by banana plantations and small, rustic towns as you make your way to the canals. Arriving to Mar Azul Hotel, You'll then board covered boats for the highlight of your tour: a cruise through the Tortuguero jungle canals, part of the river system that parallels Costa Rica 's Caribbean coast.

As you leisurely float along the canals, keep an eye out for monkeys, crocodiles, sloths and toucans, along with the variety of exotic flora that thrives in this rich ecosystem.

After this amazing expedition, we will drive south for about 60 minutes, to Cahuita National Park .

Cahuita National Park is located at just 60 minutes from Port Limon on the Caribbean side of the country. Cahuita, from the indigenous worlds kawe or mahogany and ta or point, was created in 1970 to protect the country's largest coral reef. One hundred twenty-three species of fish have been listed here, along with a variety of corals and other invertebrates. The park also protects an example of tropical moist forest, along with swamps forest and marshland. Cahuita is a perfect place for those who want to enjoy the sun, the sand and a beach in the Caribbean Sea .

Upon arrival to Cahuita Town , we will get into the park for a nature walk and enjoy the rich biodiversity of the area, along a flat and shady trail that runs along the shoreline. Monkeys, iguanas, birds, caymans and many other species are very common to see during this tour.

INCLUDES: 90 minutes boat trip on the tortuguero Canal, Entrance fee to Cahuita National Park, naturalist tour guide and snack.

Operational Notes  

• Complementary soft drinks and bottled water are included.
• Round trip transportion between the ship and attractions.
• The meeting point is inside the pier. Greenway have a special permission. Our guides are located close to the main gangway, just behind the security stand (scanner).
• Our guides will be at pier with a sign and the name of the pax on it.
• All buses have A/C
• Buses for 44 or 52 passengers have toilet.
• This tour has been designated an environmentally sensitive tour.
• Tour is not wheelchair accessible & is not for pax with any walking limitations.
• All tour guides are bi-lingual English – Spanish. For other languages please make the request in advance.
• During this tour, in some places there is no shade, pax should bring sunscream, a hat, sunglases, etc.
• During the rainy season, Sep- Nov, pax should expect some rain. Pax should bring a raincoat.
• Greenway Tours suggests pax to bring mosquito spray for beach and rain forest tours.
• Greenway Tours buses are equipped with First-Aid Kit in case of accidents.
• Pax should bring a towel and swim suit for swimming/ snorkeling.
• Pax should wear comfortable shoes.
• Pax should be advised to bring a backpack to store cameras, film, sunscream and any other belongings for easy travel.
• Facilities include changing rooms, showers, restrooms, use of lockers, bar, restaurant.
