DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:
Day 1. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA . Arrivals to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Meet and Great by our tour guide and transfer to Hotel Herradura and Check In (Deluxe room.)
Day 2. PACUARE RIVER WHITEWATER RAFTING . (B, L). The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This quintessential tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids. Located on Costa Rica 's Atlantic slope, the Pacuare River borders the Talamanca mountain range, home to native Cabecar Indians and an incredible variety of wildlife.
After an early morning pick-up from your San José hotel, you will drive by private, comfortable bus to our Operations Center for a delicious, typical Costa Rican breakfast. Once at the river at our private put-in, you'll raft 16 miles deep in the heart of densely vegetated gorges, past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids, in one of Costa Rica's most impressive primary rainforests. On the river you will raft by Rios Tropicales Lodge , where guests stay on two and three-day trips. Intimate and charming, the lodge blends naturally into the forest on our 1,000-acre private reserve, with waterfalls and pools.
After an adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montanas and many more, after we finish, a short drive to Rios Tropicales Operations Center for a hearty and delicious lunch, showers, optional drinks and souvenir store. On the return drive to San José , you'll enjoy remarkable views of Braulio Carrillo National Park and Irazú Volcano. This unforgettable trip will easily be a highlight of your stay in Costa Rica !
Day 3. ARENAL VOLCANO. (B). Located 3 hours from San Jose, Arenal is a beautiful cone-shaped volcano rising out of flat, surrounding plains. It is the most active volcano in the country. In the daytime, clouds of ash and smoke frequently billow into the sky. On clear nights, spectators are occasionally treated to eruptions of lava and burning rocks that explode into the air and shower down the cinder cone. Even when it is overcast, the rumblings venting and molten lava glowing through the clouds afford a very special experience. Leaving San Jose in the morning, you will be arriving to the Arenal Hot Springs area by midday. Check In at Hotel Arenal Kioro, one of the most luxurious Hotels of the area. Free time at leisure or visit the private Hot Springs of the hotel. Lunch and diner on your own.
Day 4. A FREESTYLE DAY IN ARENAL (B). Customize your day with the included adventure of your choice. Please select one tour.
- Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge: Caño Negro and Rio Frío are biological humid areas considered to be one of the richest in biological diversity in Costa Rica . Here you can find a great variety of resident and migratory birds plus three different species of monkeys, also iguanas, sloths, turtles and caymans. The tour starts when we pick up all “ Nature Lovers” from the hotel in a very comfortable bus for the 1-½ hour Transfer to Los Chiles, a culturally mixed village only 4-km from the Nicaraguan border. Here your boat waits for your river adventure, at that time we begin our 2 ½ hour floating safari through Tropical Rain Forest and pastures until we arrive at the marsh.
- Safari Adventure Boat : Enjoy a relaxing 2 hour float with no motor, only the incredible sounds of nature around you. Our expert bilingual naturalist guide will describe the many different flora and fauna of the region.
- Horseback Riding to Arenal Volcano: It is the perfect horseback riding tour in this area. As we come closer to the volcano, we ride through rivers and tropical rain forest, and enjoying the magnificent Arenal Volcano.
- Cerro Chato Hike: You'll hike through lush rain forests and pasture lands, and witness spectacular scenic views. The tour begins at the Old Observatory Lodge after passing by the Arenal National Park , Volcano and Lake .
- Arenal Mountain Biking : With a moderate ranking, we offer you a mountain bike tour in one of the best-suited area of Costa Rica : the region of Arenal Volcano with its lush vegetation and excellent views.
- La Fortuna on Horseback: A 90-minute horseback ride and short hike through the forest bring you to this spectacular waterfall.
- Hike Arenal Volcano : This hike takes you along the base of the volcano along forested trails and recent lava flows.
- Hanging Bridges : 15 hanging bridges wind their way through the forest, some with views of Arenal. Explore high in the canopy for an up-close observation of the rainforest's flora and fauna.
- Canopy Tour : Adrenaline-rushing adventure awaits – with 12 platforms and over 1,000 feet of cable strung through the tree tops. Gain a new perspective of the rainforest as you “fly” through the trees, safely attached by harness to the steel cables.
- Lake Arenal kayaking : You will embark in first class touring kayaks and spend a day paddling in the lake's calm waters while the beautiful view and energy of the Arenal Volcano penetrates your soul.
- Venado Caves : Be prepared to squeeze through small holes, crawl through tight passages, climb small rock formations, crawl on your stomach with only your head above water in a narrow tunnel as fish swim by, or walk up small waterfalls.
- Safari Kayaking . Relax and enjoy a day of heightened emotions on the quiet waters of the Peñas Blancas River.
Afternoon, free time at leisure. Lunch and dinner on your own.
Day 5. PAPAGAYO GULF . ( B, D). By mid morning, land transfer to Golfo de Papagayo, one of the most beautiful places of Costa Rica. Check in at Hotel Grand Papagayo with All Inclusive Service. (Grand Romance Room)

Day 7. PAPAGAYO GULF . (ALL INCLUSIVE) During the morning, Free time for enjoy the hotel facilities and relax. By Mid day, domestic flight to San Jose . Upon arrival to San Jose , transfer to Hotel Herradura and Check In. Free time at leisure.
Day 8. TRANSFER OUT. (B) According with you flight reservation, transfer to the International Airport and good bye.

Notes:
- Rates based in double occupancy and minimum 2 pax.
- Passengers between 4-10 years old are considered children. Their fee is 80% of the adult fee.
- 3 rd and 4 th Passenger and teenagers sharing room with parents pay 80% of the regular rate.
- Passengers under 3 years old are considered infants and do not pay any fee. Parents will assume their expenses and provide their meals.
- Category B is based with a 4X4 Terios. Mandatory insurance is not included ($18 per day) and Car Rental deposit ($ 750). Car Upgrade available.
- For Christmas, New Year and Eastern Week, please add 20% extra to the regular rate.

DEPARTURE DATES: All our options are available all year around and we just need your travel dates in order to check the hotel's availability and arrange it.
HOW BIG ARE THE GROUPS: Our vacations are operated in an independent basis and you will not travel as part of a group unless you are part of a group. However, during the transfers and Daily Tours you will travel with other tourist we might have for that particular activity or service.
HOW TO RESERVE THIS PACKAGE: Please send an email to info@greenwaytours.com with as much as information you can about your desired vacation, number of participants, arrival dates, name of the package you are interested on and any other special requirements. Once you receive our confirmation form, a 20% deposit is due. Full payment due 60 days prior to departure.
CAN I CUSTOMIZE A PACKAGE: Yes, you can use our packages as a base and make any change on it. We are very flexible. If these packages do not fit on your desired vacation, just send an email to us and we can prepare a new option for you.
AIRFARE IS NOT INCLUDED: All our options includes the Land Portion only. Airfare must be on your own and indicate your arrival and departure dates to us in order to arrange the hotel's bookings.
HOTEL CATEGORIES: All the hotels used by Greenway Tours had been selected considering the best standards of quality and service. Our Hotels are between 3 and 5 stars. All inspected by our company's owners and managers in order to guarantee an excellent service. At least 50% of our lodging contractors had been certified as Green Companies by the Costa Rican Tourist Board ( Certification in Sustainable Tourism CST ).

VOUCHERS & WECOME KIT: During the transfer service to your hotel, our tour guide will provide general information about your tour and give you a welcome kit with all the vouchers and documents you will need for your trip. |
