TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK, COSTA RICA
2 DAYS / 1 NIGHT

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY .

Day 1
We begin our trip early in the orning between 6:00 am to 7:00 am (depending of the hotel you are staying at) from San Jose. You will be traveling with a bilingual naturalist guide on an air conditioned bus. Drive through Braulio Carrillo National Park, where you have the opportunity to see beautiful views and abundant vegetation. On the way, stop for breakfast and then the trip to Caño Blanco deck driving through banana plantations.

At Caño Blanco, you will board the covered boat to the lodge, passing the Tortuguero Canals arriving between 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the lodge the staff will be waiting for you with a refreshing cocktail. Your rooms will be assigned and the guide will explain the afternoon activities. After lunch, visit to the Turtle Museum of the C.C.C. (Caribbean Conservation Corporation) and to the colorful Tortuguero town, a typical Caribbean village.

You will return to the lodge around 5:30 p.m. Free time to enjoy the pool, the bar service and prepare for your dinner. Dinner service from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and then rest of the night free to enjoy the surroundings, pool and bar.

Day 2
6:15 am boat tour to admire the awakening of Tortuguero, a wonderful and interesting experience where you can see abundant flora and fauna of Tortuguero National Park. Return for breakfast (service between 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ). Note: Entrance fee to the national Park not included and it is $10 that has to be paid directly to the park's administration.

After breakfast we will begin our trip back to San Jose around 9:30 a.m. The boat will arrive at Caño Blanco around 11:00 a.m. Then our bus will be waiting for the drive back to San Jose. Stop en route for lunch. Arrive in San Jose area around 3:00 p.m. (depending on the hotel you will be staying).

After visiting Tortuguero you can continue your trip to other destinations instead of coming back to San José . Nearby destinations on the South Caribbean include the beaches of Cahuita, Puerto Viejo, Gandoca- Manzanillo.
Other destinations towards Guápiles area include the rain forests of Sarapiquí and the famous Arenal Volcano area (4 hours drive approximately).

Optional tours:

• Turtle nesting walk (from July to October) $20 per person
• Fishing of Tarpon, Snook, Fat Snook, Jacko Bell, among others (upon request)

Important notes:

• The maximum weight permitted on small boats is 25 pounds per person
• The cost of the entrance fee to Tortuguero National Park is $10 per person (please pay directly to your guide)
• The cost of the entrance to the Caribbean Conservation Corporation (CCC) Turtle Museum is $1.00 per person
  

DEPARTURE DATES: All our options are available all year around and we just need your travel dates in order to check the hotel's availability and arrange it.

HOW BIG ARE THE GROUPS: Our vacations are operated in an independent basis and you will not travel as part of a group unless you are part of a group. However, during the transfers and Daily Tours you will travel with other tourist we might have for that particular activity or service.

HOW TO RESERVE THIS PACKAGE: Please send an email to info@greenwaytours.com with as much as information you can about your desired vacation, number of participants, arrival dates, name of the package you are interested on and any other special requirements. Once you receive our confirmation form, a 20% deposit is due. Full payment due 60 days prior to departure.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE A PACKAGE: Yes, you can use our packages as a base and make any change on it. We are very flexible. If these packages do not fit on your desired vacation, just send an email to us and we can prepare a new option for you.

AIRFARE IS NOT INCLUDED: All our options includes the Land Portion only. Airfare must be on your own and indicate your arrival and departure dates to us in order to arrange the hotel's bookings.

HOTEL CATEGORIES: All the hotels used by Greenway Tours had been selected considering the best standards of quality and service. Our Hotels are between 3 and 5 stars. All inspected by our company's owners and managers in order to guarantee an excellent service. At least 50% of our lodging contractors had been certified as Green Companies by the Costa Rican Tourist Board ( Certification in Sustainable Tourism CST ).

AIRPORT TRANSFERS: All our packages includes Airport - Hotel - Airport Transfers with a professional bilingual tour guide upon your flight arrival.

VOUCHERS & WECOME KIT: During the transfer service to your hotel, our tour guide will provide general information about your tour and give you a welcome kit with all the vouchers and documents you will need for your trip.
