TOUR DESCRIPTION:
The TURU BARI Tropical Park is an eco-adventure oriented theme park, that started operation last April 5 th , 2003. It has a total extension of 650 acres in a beautiful scenery, surrounded on the Northeast by the Rio Grande de Tarcoles, to the Southwest by the Turrubares hillsides and the Carara National park and to the West by the Nicoya Gulf, which you can see from the highest elevation areas. The distance form Puntarenas is only one hour bus ride and this Puntarenas tour is one of the best recommendations we have for the entire family.
The natural surroundings of the TURUBARI Tropical park is the ideal place for visitors who are looking to learn more about Costa Rica's natural history, discovering our ancestor's life style, having an adventure experience or simply enjoy the beautiful landscape. The park's entrance is located at the highest point, offering a spectacular view of the property and it's surrounding areas. Visitors enter the park in three spectacular ways which are through the TURU BA RI Sky Ride or the aerial tram built by the French Company POMA –Galski, which started it's operation in July 2003. Those adventure lovers can have the access of the park slipping through a cable with a velocity of 100 km/hr through the magnificent Sensational Cable or can do a descending tour to the cables of canopy and the very exciting horse-back-riding through the mountains.
Way back in the year 1997, about 15 years in the past, the property was dedicated to the cattle raising field and with the abundant production of mangoes. Six years later the property was transformed into a park with an immense tropical garden with botanical collections, trails and a large quantity of attractions for tourist to enjoy which has helped preserved our planet and brought social benefits to few of the human resources.
The main attractions of the park are the following :
- TURU BA RI Sky Ride : Built and safety guaranteed by the European Company POMA-Galski, which is renowned to be the leader for installations of this type of Attract attractions. It consists of 8 Gondolas with a setting capacity of 6 persons per Gondola which has an automatic door open and closure system designed especially for high temperature of the tropics. The windows offers a system of total security and is an access for panoramic vision of the magnificent view of the park's surroundings. It is driven by electricity but has a standby motor in cases of emergency and lost of electrical power in continuance of the service of the Gondola.
- Butterfly garden: of 1150 square meter and with over 40 different butterfly species, an astonishing entry into the insect world with a laboratory having the vision and goal preserving and increasing the production of butterflies. The garden envisaged a parade of different colours which serves as an eye-catching to the visitors.
- Palm collection: with over 180 species from around the world, carefully taken cared of by us, to offer a unique exhibit for the most curious plant lovers which are assembled around the park's surrounding.
- Countryside farm: with typical indigenous ranch, sugar mill, organic vegetable garden providing our own restaurant, domestic animals, and two enjoyable mazes to challenge your orientation sense!
- Herbarium : learn what plants Costa Ricans use for curative needs and to spice their food.
- Cactus collection: a showcase of funny shapes and spines to remind us of the inhabitants of the dry areas of America.
- Lookout Point of the Tarcoles river : one of the most important rivers of the country, with the possibility of spotting the famous American Crocodile.
- The Indian trail : enjoy the amazing forest in all comfort, with paved trails, bridges over the stream and the display of the beautiful Long-Tailed Manakin, with its magnificent songs and courtship dances. The trails have informative signs elaborated by INBIO (Instituto Nacioal de Biodiversidad).
- Bamboo area : hear the mystic bamboo moved with the wind and find out why our visitors consider this a meditation refuge.
- Bromeliads garden: An amazing way to learn about the marvels of this family, exclusive of the tropics of the Americas.
- Orchids garden: (only on flowering period) a walk through a huge orchids collection with splendid colours and forms, a real treat for orchids lovers.
- La Loma trail : discover the dry forest from the canopy perspective.
- Garabito Restaurant : the taste of the real home made Costa Rican cuisine cooked over a wooden stove and has a capacity of 80 guests in a garden setting.
- Los Mangos Restaurant : offers a variety of international cuisines serves in fine dining and the typical foods of the country serve in a buffet style of service with beverages, desserts and coffee and can accommodate 200 guests in setting arrangements.
