Day by Day Itinerary.

Day 1. WELCOME TO COSTA RICA. Arrival to the International Airport Juan Santamaria. Upon arrival at the San Jose airport, you will be met by one of our representatives who will explain your itinerary, answer any questions and provide you with a package of vouchers and information about your trip. Transfer to hotel Aurola Holiday Inn and free time at leisure.

Day 2. CORCOVADO TENT CAMP (B, L, D). Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for take a domestic flight to Drake Bay. Upon arrival a, Tent Camp representative will pick you up for a short transfer to the lodge. The Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp offers you an affordable and comfortable opportunity to vacation on one of the most beautiful places on the planet; the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. The lodge is located just southwest of Drake Bay on the western side of the Osa Peninsula. The Camp is close to Corcovado National Park and the Caño Island Biological Reserve.
 
This paradise is a combination of tropical wilderness and beaches, catalogued by the National Geographic Society as "one of the most biologically intense places on Earth!". Come and share this paradise with over 350 species of birds - Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, Trogons, and at least 7 types of hummingbird’s right in our Camp! Our flowers attract numerous species of butterflies, including the famous blue Morpho Butterfly (Morpho Menelaus). In addition, we are visited regularly by White-faced, Howler and Spider Monkeys.

The Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp offers you an affordable and comfortable opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful locations on the planet; the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. It is just a 10 minute boat ride southwest of Drake Bay on the western side of the Osa Peninsula. The Luxury Tent Camp is a short boat ride away from the Corcovado National Park and the Cano Island Biological Reserve.

The Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp is located right on the yellow sand beaches of Caletas. It is bordered on the north east side by a pristine fresh water stream that fills a natural swim pond before it empties to the ocean.  On the back of our grounds are steep hills covered with lush rainforest. There is a waterfall upstream that can be visited by our guests.

The tent camp provides comfortable accommodations in full-size tents with wood-frame beds. The tents are covered by a large tarp to protect them from the tropic sun and rain. Each has a front deck with chairs and a great view of the Pacific Ocean ! The meals provided are delicious and filling, a healthy and balanced diet of Tico and International Cuisine!

Day 3. CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK TOUR (B, L, D). For a full day in the thick of the rainforest, Corcovado National Park is unparalleled for breathtaking beauty, abundant wildlife and foliage nearly pulsing with lushness. After breakfast at the Tent Camp, you'll board a boat for a 25-minute ride to the San Pedrillo Station, the northernmost ranger station of Corcovado National Park.
 
An hour's walk along the beach, led by a local naturalist guide, brings you to a forest trail up the Rio Pargo. Enormous primary growth trees dripping with epiphytic plants, such as orchids, bromeliads and ferns are numerous in this area. The quiet of the jungle is occasionally broken with the guttural bark of howler monkeys, the shrieks of scarlet macaws and the rustle of agoutis in the bush. Sloths make their slow way among branches overhead. The rainforest canopy creates a cool environment for hiking well-groomed trails.
 
A midday we'll have lunch under the shade of a mango tree on Llorona beach allows you to enjoy the hiss and boom of the surf while resting from your morning's expedition. The next leg of the adventure is a walk up the San Pedrillo River, leading to a rainforest waterfall great for a cool dip. Keep your eyes open for exotic birds and small wildlife. Kingfishers and Jesus Christ lizards are residents of this river. The park is home to cougars, jaguars, ocelots, and giant anteaters, all endangered species. Four species of monkey live in the trees overhead: the howler, white-faced capuchin, spider and squirrel monkey. The park also protects the largest population of scarlet macaws in Costa Rica. As macaws mate for life, they usually fly in pairs. You'll see their brilliant colors displayed against the green of the forest.
 
In late afternoon, with senses heightened, we board the return craft to the Tent Camp.

Day 4. CANO ISLAND PARK TOUR (B, L, D). A day trip to Caño Island will prove to be an unforgettable experience to divers, snorkelers, hikers, and nature lovers alike. The island is around 8 miles off the coast of the Osa Peninsula, and during the boat ride there  is usually some fishing for wahoo or tuna performed.
 
Also, most likely you will have the opportunity to see schools of dolphin swimming around the boat, and whales cruise these waters and are often sighted during their migration season. Caño Island rises like a giant emerald from the sea. Soaring coastal cliffs, white-sand beaches and a densely forested interior make this island one of the most dramatic landmasses in the area.
 
Indigenous pre-Columbian burial grounds on the island have contributed to its designation as a protected archeological and biological reserve. There are several trails inside the island that lead to the Indian burial sites. Here you can contemplate the perfectly store spheres that they used to adorn their sacred sites. It is still a mystery to the scientific community how these spheres were made.
 
The diving and snorkeling crowd will be treated to an underwater playground of caves, cliffs and canyons at seven separate dive sites. White-tipped shark, barracuda, red snapper, dog-toothed snapper, and several varieties of rays are a few of the marine species awaiting you. Snorkelers will enjoy schools of colorful tropical fish closer to shore.
Cano Island is surrounded by five platforms of low reefs where over a dozen species of coral grow abundantly. These shelves house countless life forms like sea urchins, lobsters, and all sorts of giant conchs.
 
After a picnic lunch shaded by almond trees on the beach, guests are free to explore the island’s burial sites on self-guided trails, play a friendly game of beach volleyball, go for another round of swimming, snorkeling, diving, or simply relaxes on the sun-warmed sand. The emerald forests, crystal-clear waters, abundant marine and bird life, and several intimate beach coves will make your trip to the island a memorable adventure.

Day 5. CORCOVADO – SAN JOSE - ARENAL (B, L).  Breakfast at the lodge. Transfer to the local airport for a domestic flight to San Jose. Upon arrival, a Greenway Tours representative will meet you and provide a land transfer to Arenal Volcano. Located in the north of Costa Rica, the impressive Arenal Volcano is a natural phenomenon that attracts thousands and thousands of tourists due to its permanent, extraordinary and trusted volcanic activity, which on clear nights it seems like fireworks with intermittent explosions of ash and lava. We will continue on our trip until we get to this wonder from nature then we must go to the north of the country, and inevitably we must make a stop in the famous town of Sarchi, with international fame, it has earned the name of the Birthplace of Costa Rica’s Artisans.

As we continue our trip we will go throw diverse plantations with agricultural products, ornamental plants and cattle ranches until we arrive to La Fortuna. Check in at Hotel Arenal Paraiso and free time at leisure.

Day 6. A FREESTYLE DAY IN ARENAL (B). Customize your vacation with an optional tour. Please let us know if you want to add any of these optional activities in order to make a reservation in advance. Otherwise free time at leisure. Check here the options available.

 Day 7. FREE TIME (B). During the morning, free time at leisure. Early afternoon, land transfer to San Jose. Overnight at Hotel Aurlola Holiday In in San Jose.

Day 8. GOOD BY:  (B). Transfer to the International Airport accordingly with your scheduled flight and Good bye.

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE: The shuttle bus is a service where a maximum of 6-7 passengers travel in the same vehicle and to the same destination. By this way, we reduce the price of the transfer service and can arrange more economical packages. The service is very good, door to door, with recent model vehicles, full insured and A/C.

DEPARTURE DATES: All our options are available all year around and we just need your travel dates in order to check the hotel's availability and arrange it.

HOW BIG THE GROUPS ARE: Our vacations are operated in an independent basis and you will not travel as part of a group unless you are part of a group. However, during the transfers and Daily Tours you will travel with other tourist we might have for that particular activity or service.

HOW TO RESERVE THIS PACKAGE: Please send an email to info@greenwaytours.com with as much as information you can about your desired vacation, number of participants, arrival dates, name of the package you are interested on and any other special requirements. Once you receive our confirmation form, a 20% deposit is due. Full payment due 60 days prior to departure.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE A PACKAGE: Yes, you can use our packages as a base and make any change on it. We are very flexible. If these packages do not fit on your desired vacation, just send an email to us and we can prepare a new option for you.

AIRFARE IS NOT INCLUDED: All our options includes the Land Portion only. Airfare must be on your own and indicate your arrival and departure dates to us in order to arrange the hotel's bookings.

HOTEL CATEGORIES: All the hotels used by Greenway Tours had been selected considering the best standards of quality and service. Our Hotels are between 3 and 5 stars. All inspected by our company's owners and managers in order to guarantee an excellent service. At least 50% of our lodging contractors had been certified as Green Companies by the Costa Rican Tourist Board (Certification in Sustainable Tourism CST).
